My Story

Maine-3.jpg

For most of my adult life, I took pictures of kids in action, iconic places and beauty of form, line and color: the usual stuff.MMM

Then as Mayor of Shaker Heights, I focused my work on protecting cities and historic suburbs. Cities represent our shared history and memory.

Now as I think about climate change, our fragile earth and the loss of respect for those around us, I seek reminders of what Nature teaches us.

Recently, I have become interested in more interior visions: using multiple exposures to express the feeling of awe as I contemplate the world, a particular spot or undisturbed nature.  The resulting abstract expressionism allows an exploration of emotion while viewing art.
